Marist To Face Off Against Canisius
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s soccer team will host Canisius in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at 1 p.m. Oct. 22 in Tenney Stadium. The match will be streamed live on the Red Fox Network.
Last Time Out
The Red Foxes defeated Saint Peter’s 2-1 on Oct. 18 to earn their first MAAC win. Marist scored both goals in a strong second half, as senior Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the season after senior Jamie Strumwasser (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) set her up with pass to the middle of the field. Junior Jessica Fanelli (Kathonah, N.Y.) netted the Red Foxes’ other goal, recording her first score of the season.
Players to Watch
Freshman Brianna Robinson (Jackson, N.J.) is second on the team in shots, totaling 18 in 11 games played. Epstein now leads Marist with 20 shots, including 10 shots on goal.
Scouting Canisius
Canisius currently sits at 4-13 overall and 3-5 in MAAC play. Senior Mallory Illsley leads the Golden Griffins with 42 total shots, including 20 shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Brigid St. Leger has started 14 games, recording 71 saves on the season.
Looking Ahead
Marist (2-8-4, 1-3-3) will continue its four game home stretch when it takes on Monmouth at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in the fifth annual Pink Out game. The Red Foxes will welcome the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and recognize breast cancer survivors in an on-field ceremony. Marist will then host Dartmouth at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 for Senior Night.
