Last week was, in some ways, a period of immense change in college soccer. No. 1 Wake Forest lost. A solid Pitt(m) team was proved vulnerable. And Penn State — fresh off a massive win — dropped points twice. Meanwhile, some teams soared out west. Washington clinched the no. 1 spot in our rankings. UC Santa Barbara cotninued its push towards national recognition. Portland stayed undefeated.
And what to make of all of this? In a season defined by its contradictions, those of unexpected losses, inexplicable ties and dramatic wins, what are the constants? So far, there are admittedly few.
Still, here’s what to takeaway from a week in which the Huskies celebrated and the Deacons despaired.
