Men's Midseason Top 100 Players
The Top Drawer Midseason Player Rankings are here, revealing 100 of the best college soccer stars so far. Denver senior Sam Basset leads the way, followed by 99 players who have shaped the men’s college season in one way or another.
1. Sam Bassett, Denver - The Pioneers have endured one of the toughest schedules in college soccer history and have fared fairly well thanks to Bassett, a midfield superstar who leads the team in goals (6) and assists (8). An All-American last season, the Colorado native has taken his game to an even higher level as arguably the best player in college soccer.
2. Emil Jaaskelainen, Akron - The Long Island transfer has again been a lethal finisher. After failing to score in his first three games as he acclimated to a new environment, Jaaskelainen has caught fire with 14 goals and 5 assists in the last 10 matches. There is little doubt that the redshirt senior is the best goal scorer in college soccer, and his form gives Akron hope at a long NCAA tournament run.
3. Sam Williams, North Carolina - Sometimes overshadowed as a holding midfielder who does his work behind the scenes, Williams has been excellent in the engine room for one of the College Cup favorites. With effortless technique with both feet and a flawless understanding of the game, the New Jersey native sometimes looks like a man among boys despite his relatively average stature.
4. Alex Harris, Cornell - Putting away all doubts that his TDS Freshman of the Year campaign was a fluke, Harris has scored 11 and assisted three for a Cornell team enjoying a historically dominant start. The Big Red are 9-1-2 with their sophomore star leading the way thanks to an elite arsenal of intelligent movement, a quick release, and accurate ball striking.
5. Michael Adedokun, Ohio State - One of the surprises of the season, Ohio State began the season undefeated through 11 with Adedokun doubling as the goals (6) and assists (6) leader. A quick-footed 1v1 specialist with excellent passing and movement in the final third, few teams have had an answer for a player who has either scored or assisted in eight of the last 10 matches. If the Buckeyes are to live up to their early season promise in the postseason, expect Adedokun to be the catalyst of a potential College Cup run.
