Men's Soccer Keeps on Rolling
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team extended its winning streak to five, after dominating Malone in a 2-0 shutout over visiting Malone Friday afternoon on Panther Field.
After being fouled inside the box, senior Duncan Campbell (Hilliard, Ohio) gave the Panthers the early 1-0 lead after converting the penalty kick.
A little over 10 minutes later, sophomore Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) connected for his sixth goal of the season, which also extended his goal scoring streak to three. Junior Jakob Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) found Wahle inside the box from about six yards out.
Malone's goalkeeper Felipe Monteiro kept the Panthers at bay for the rest of the half, making two key saves towards the end of the first period.
The second half was all about ODU's defense. The Panthers allowed just four shots and two corner kicks in the period. Overall, the Panthers outshot the Pioneers 15-10 and held an overwhelming 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore Macklin Robinson (Cincinnati, Ohio) collected his first shutout of the season while improving his record to 6-2-1.
Ohio Dominican will take to the road for a tough contest at Tiffin on Sunday, Oct. 20 for a 2 p.m. match.
