Men's Soccer Loses to No. 23 Delaware 3-0
AMBLER, Pa. – Temple men's soccer (1-1-6) fell to No. 23 Delaware (7-2-0) at home at Ambler Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon. Blue Hen's midfielder Guillermo Delgado scored the game-winner in the first half to win the game.
The Owls outshot the Blue Hens 5-4 in the first half but couldn't convert on their two shots on goal. Delgado opened the scoring in the 13th minute off a pass from Joe Dipre.
Delaware continued its scoring in the second half with another goal in the 78th minute. Tobias Muller scored off a corner kick from Benn Asante to make it 2-0. The Blue Hens tallied another goal with less than six minutes left in regulation when Jaime Martinez scored off a pass from Asante.
Goalkeeper Dan Scheck made six saves in the game and kept the Owls alive in the second half with four saves.
The Owls will look to reverse their fortunes with conference play. Cincinnati will serve as the first American Athletic Conference opponent for Temple on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
