Men’s Soccer Ranked In MAAC Preseason Poll
EDISON, New Jersey – Marist’s men’s soccer team was picked eighth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Poll as voted on by the league’s 11 head coaches. The 2015 preseason rankings were released Wednesday.
Defending champion Monmouth took the top spot with 111 points, Quinnipiac finished in second (95 points), and Iona and Rider tied for third with 87 points apiece. Fairfield (83 points), Siena (77 points) and Canisius (52 points) ended up in fifth, sixth, and seventh place, respectively, before Marist College took eighth with 44 points. Rounding out the bottom three were Manhattan (39 points), Saint Peter’s (26 points) and Niagara (25 points).
The Red Foxes open the 2015 campaign at Saint Joseph’s with a 5 p.m. match Aug. 28. Marist then begins a four-game home stand hosting UNH at 5 p.m. August 30. MAAC play begins Sept. 26 when Marist heads to Rider for a 1 p.m. contest.
