Men's Soccer up Two Spots to #3 on NSCAA National Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan.: Regis University men's soccer used their two victories over the weekend to edge up two more spots on the NSCAA/Continental Tire National Poll, bringing the Rangers to #3 in the nation. The Rangers are still ranked first in the south central region with their overall record of 8-0-1 and a RMAC record of 6-0-0.
This past weekend, the Rangers defeated two touch Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competitors, Adams State College (5-0 final) and Colorado Mesa University (3-2 final).
As a team, Regis is ranked first in the nation in scoring offense (3.89) and goals scored (35). They are ranked second in total points (94), seventh in assists (24) and twelfth in shutout percentage (0.56).
In the RMAC, Regis ranked first in eight categories: points (92), goals (35), goals per game (3.89), assists (22), assists per game (2.44), goals allowed (0.67), goals against average (0.65) and shutout percentage (0.56). The team is also ranked second in the RMAC in shots (159).
Ranger sophomore Martin Maybin is ranked eighth nationally in both goals scored (9) and total points (21), while ranking ninth in goals scored per game (1.0). Freshman goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi earned a 14th ranking for his goals against average (0.639).
Regis University is the only DII institution in the country that has three sports ranked top 25 in the nation. Men's soccer – 3rd, volleyball – 20th, and women's soccer -23rd.
The Rangers will hit the road Friday, October 5th. The team will take on Colorado School of Mines at 7:30 PM in Golden, Colo.
