Midwestern State draws with St. Edward's,0-0
AUSTIN -- Rain and unplayable field conditions forced a 0-0 draw between Midwestern State and St. Edward's as the match was called in the 70th minute Sunday afternoon at LC Family Field.
"We were dominating and outshooting them," MSU coach Doug Elder said."We just felt like we were going to score. It was very disappointing to not get a positive result this weekend."
The Mustangs move to 3-0-2 after settling for scoreless draws against Texas A&M International and St. Edward's this weekend.
MSU controlled the run of play outshooting the Hilltoppers 12-3 including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.
"We had quite a few shots that went wide and thought the ball that hit crossbar had bounced down into goal (in the first half)," Elder said. "(Michael) Brody then missed the open net. It was very unlucky."
Junior goalkeeper Ray Clark made one save to clinch his fourth shutout of the season.
"Defense can only keep us in games for so long," Elder said. "As we play better teams, it will get more and more difficult. We have to find a way to start scoring some more goals."
Midwestern State takes on rival Incarnate Word Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
