Complete Patriot League Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the first time this season and 10th time in her career, Lehigh women's soccer junior Sam Miller has been named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced on Monday. Miller is coming off a sensational six-save shutout at American Saturday, with all six stops coming in the second half to lead Lehigh to a 1-0 victory.
The shutout was Miller's 22nd of her career. She made a number of spectacular stops, including one in the final minute, coming out aggressively to deny Morgan Brinson's attempt at the equalizer. In the end, Miller handed American just its third shutout of the season (in 13 games).
For the season, Miller owns a 0.94 goals against average and 0.842 save percentage.
Also recognized on Monday with honorable mention recognition was senior Sabrina Mertz and sophomore Ally Friedman. Mertz scored the game's only goal at the 30:16 mark while Friedman was a stalwart defensively, shutting down Yari Bradfield, the Patriot League leader in goals (9) and points (19). Friedman was given the assignment of marking Bradfield and held her without a point.
Lehigh returns to action on Monday at 6 p.m. vs. Penn and remains home on Saturday to welcome archrival Lafayette on Senior Night. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
