Missouri State set to bring in 7 players
Missouri State women's soccer head coach Rob Brewer announced today (Feb. 4) that he will bring in seven players to the program for the 2015 season.
"Top to bottom, I feel the quality of this class could be the best we have ever had," stated head coach Rob Brewer. "I think these players could take this program up a notch."
2015 Women's Soccer Commitments:
Karen Kozol, F, La Vista, Neb. (Papillion-La Vista South High/Elite Girls Academy)
Kozol has played three seasons for head coach April Kelcher at Papillion-La Vista South High. As a junior she scored 12 goals and added three assists for the PLSHS squad that finished 11-7-0 and was a Class A district finalist. She helped her team win the title at the Papio Tournament. Her sophomore season, Kozol scored nine goals and had five assists as the Monarchs reached the Class A district finals. She scored six goals as a freshman and added three assists. Kozol led her Elite Girls Academy club team to the NPL Midwest Championship and they were Nebraska State Cup finalists as a junior. She led EGA to the State Cup title as a sophomore and they were MRL Region II champions. As a freshman, Kozol played for club team Toro where she was a team captain and won the State Cup title. She also played in the U18 Vildbjerg Cup in Denmark where she scored an International goal. Both of Kozol's parents, James and Jodi, played soccer for Quincy University.
"I am thrilled for both Karen and her family," said Elite Girls Academy head coach Marcus Kelcher. "Karen has all of the necessary tools to make an immediate impact at the next level. She is joining a program that I admire and one that is led by an excellent coaching staff. I firmly believe that Karen will be a huge success at Missouri State and I look forward to watching her continue to develop under Coach Brewer."
Brooke Prondzinski, F, Olathe, Kan. (Olathe South High/KC Metro Dynamos)
Prondzinski has started her first three seasons for head coach Will Stockopf and will be a team captain at Olathe South High for coach Angel Cornejo as a senior this spring. She has scored 66 goals through three seasons and was named the Sunflower League Forward of the Year as a junior. She was OSHS MVP that season and was a first-team 6A All-State and All-Region selection. As a sophomore for the Falcons, Prondzinski tallied 25 goals and assisted on 12 others to earn OSHS Offensive Player of the Year. She was an All-State and All-Region first team member and was selected to the All-Metro team as well. She scored a freshman school record 16 goals and had 10 assists that season. She was a first-team Sunflower League player and was a second-team All-Region pick. She led her KC Metro Dynamos club team to a third-place finish at nationals in 2014, the fourth-consecutive year that squad won the State Cup. She was also selected as a Best IX at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in 2014. Her twin sister, Paige, will also join the Bears as a midfielder/defender in 2015.
"Brooke has played for KC Dynamos since she was 13 years old and has always been an impact forward for the team that has won Kansas State Cup all but one year," said head coach Derek Shoare. "Brooke was voted in the best 11 players at the USYS National Tournament in the summer of 2014 where her team reached the semifinals. Her athletic ability is exceptional, particularly when running at defenders with the ball. She has a very complete game, good in the air, good in front of goal and has a tremendous work ethic. I am extremely excited about the immediate impact Brooke is going to make at Missouri State this coming fall. I am certain Brooke is going to have a stand out career and help Missouri State significantly in their pursuit of a Conference Championship."
Paige Prondzinski, M/D, Olathe, Kan. (Olathe South High/KC Metro Dynamos)
Prondzinski has started her first three seasons for head coach Will Stockopf and will be a team captain at Olathe South High for coach Angel Cornejo as a senior this spring. She earned first-team All-Region and Sunflower League honors as a junior, was an All-State second team pick and was named to the MO-KAN All-Tournament team. As a sophomore, she received All-Conference and 6A Northeast first team honors and was a second-team All-State selection as well as a MO-KAN All-Tournament team honoree. Prondzinski was a first-team Sunflower League selection as a freshman and was an All-State honorable mention team member. She led her KC Metro Dynamos club team to a third-place finish at nationals in 2014, the fourth-consecutive year that squad won the State Cup. Her twin sister, Brooke, will also join the Bears as a forward in 2015.
"Paige has also been a member on the KC Dynamos team since she was 13 years old," continued Shoare. "Paige has a tremendous work ethic and a tremendous desire to maximize her potential. She practices everyday like it is a game which has enabled her to continue her overall improvement in all aspects of her game. Paige is extremely technical so whether playing in a central defending role or a holding midfield role she is very good in possession and can build play out of the back or become a very good link player in the middle or final third of the field. Paige has a very good physical presence and is also extremely strong in the air. She is a major asset when competing for 50/50 balls in midfield areas but also is very dangerous in set pieces in the opposition's box. Paige is a natural leader and, I believe, will become a key contributor in her career at Missouri State on and off the field."
Abigail (Abby) Resendiz, M, Enid, Okla. (Enid High/Canadian Valley Futbol Club)
Resendiz has started and lettered in each of her first three seasons for head coach Craig Liddell at Enid High. She led the Pacers in assists as a junior and was the team's offensive MVP. She also led EHS in assist during her sophomore season and was MVP of the team's offense. As a freshman, she had the most assists on the team. Resendiz also ran cross country all four years at Enid High.
"Abby has the ability to come in, be a play maker and create offense for us as a freshman," continued Brewer. "I consider her a hidden gem as she wasn't on my radar until her standout performance that day could my eye. Having her on campus seemed to be a great fit and her work ethic and fitness level will be a great addition to the team."
Brittney Robinson, D, Ballwin, Mo. (Eureka High/Lou Fusz Wipke)
Robinson has started and lettered in each of her three seasons at Eureka High. She was named to the All-Region, All-St. Louis and All-Conference first team as a junior and was a second-team All-State and All-Metro selection. She helped her EHS Wildcats to the Suburban West American Division Conference Championship that season. As a sophomore, she led the Wildcats to the state championship with a 22-1-1 record and was an All-Conference first teamer and All-Metro second team pick. Robinson earned first-team All-Conference honors as a freshman as EHS won the district title. She also played basketball at Eureka High. Robinson is the daughter of former St. Louis Cardinal Kerry Robinson.
"Brittney is truly one of the best athletes I have ever coached," said Lou Fusz Wipke head coach Jim Wipke. "She is a smart player that is incredibly savvy out of the back. She picks times to make runs out of the back and is a force to be reckoned with for sure. It has been my honor coaching Brittney!"
Masen Stamp, D, Wichita, Kan. (Andover Central High/WFC United)
Stamp has started and lettered for head coach Stephanie Garcia at Andover Central High for the past three seasons. As a junior, she was a first-team All-State and All-League defender for the Jaguars. She was a McPherson All-Tournament Team member after ACHS finished as a runner-up. She earned second-team All-State as a sophomore and was on the All-Region and All-League first teams. She led the Jaguars to the McPherson Tournament title and was an all-tournament team selection. Her freshman season, she was a first-team All-League and second-team All-Region honoree as ACHS was McPherson Tournament champions. Stamp earned her school's Wendy's Heisman Award as a senior. She played point guard for the ACHS basketball team all four seasons. Her sister, Evan, is a goalkeeper for Missouri State.
"I am absolutely delighted for Masen to be joining Coach Brewer and his quality Missouri State program," said WFC United coach Sammy Lane. "Masen is an athletic, competitive, determined kid. She plays outside back for us and center back for her high school team and I have no doubt that her versatility will prove a quality addition to the Missouri State back line. I wish Masen well and look forward to following her collegiate career."
"Masen has been an intricate piece to our success over the past few years," said Stephanie Garcia, head coach at Andover Central. "She has a presence on the soccer field that is unmatched by her opponents. She has given our team confidence to work hard and push themselves to the next level. She is a team player and a fast learner. Her power to push through opponents, her speed to get the ball out of danger and up the field, and her tenacious play will be some of her key contributions to this current season and at the college level.
Eleanor (Allie) Thomas, F, Webster Groves, Mo. (Webster Groves High/St. Louis Scott Gallagher)
Thomas has been a three-year starter and letterwinner for head coach Chris Allen at Webster Groves High. Her junior season, Thomas scored 11 goals and added nine assists to lead WGHS to the Suburban South Conference championship. She was a second-team all-conference selection that year. As a sophomore, she scored four goals as Webster Groves went 21-2-1 overall and 7-0 in conference to earn the title. WGHS won the CYC Tournament and the Webster-Kirkwood Classic Invitational en route to a runner-up finish in districts. Thomas has played for the prolific club team St. Louis Scott Gallagher in 2013 and 2014. She played four seasons of tennis at Webster Groves.
"Allie is a terrific, hardworking student-athlete who is destined for great things at Missouri State," said Sean Long, head coach at St. Louis Scott Gallagher. "Her technical abilities on the ball, along with her size and speed will allow Allie to be a dangerous and effective player at the next level. I wish her and her new program the very best of luck."
