MLS Academy alumni weekly roundup: Nov. 20
Graduates of MLS Academies are everywhere in the college ranks nowadays, as many are aiming to continue developing with one day landing a homegrown contract.
For now, of course, the focus is on their college teams, as the season continues to move along and the chase for the College Cup inches along.
Here’s a look at how a selection of MLS Academy alumni fared in Division I action over the past week, as college teams lifted conference tourney trophies.
Chicago Fire
Junior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 98 minutes and made eight saves in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started, played 90 minutes and made one save in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.
Freshman MF Louis Bennett II started, played 92 minutes and had an assist in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started, played 67 minutes and had an assist in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.
Junior MF Brady Wahl started and played 98 minutes in Marquette ’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.
Senior F Harrison Shipp started, played 110 minutes and scored a goal in Notre Dame’s 3-3 draw against Virginia on Nov. 15.
Senior MF Bryan Ciesiulka started and played 98 minutes in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.
Sophomore F Joey Calistri started and played 83 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin on Nov. 13. He also started and played 73 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 15.
Senior MF Chris Ritter started and played 90 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 15.
Sophomore MF Drew Conner started and played 90 minutes in Wisconsin’s 2-1 loss against Northwestern on Nov. 13.
Senior D Scott Lakin started and played 90 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 15.
Chivas USA
Freshman GK Jake McGuire started, played 90 minutes and made three saves in Tulsa’s 3-1 win over South Carolina on Nov. 13, started, played 90 minutes and made seven saves in a 3-0 win over New Mexico on Nov. 15, and also started, played 90 minutes and made four saves in a 1-0 loss against Charlotte on Nov. 17.
Colorado Rapids
Senior F Zach Bolden started, played 51 minutes, had a three goals and an assist in Denver’s 5-0 win over IUPUI on Nov. 15.
Senior D Patrick Slogic started and played 90 minutes in Cornell’s 3-0 win over Columbia on Nov. 16.
Junior F James Rogers started and played 72 minutes in New Mexico’s 3-0 loss against Tulsa on Nov. 15.

Senior D Ross Friedman started and played 90 minutes in Harvard’s 2-0 loss against Penn on Nov. 16.
Freshman D Rylee Woods started and played 96 minutes in Michigan’s 2-1 loss against Indiana on Nov. 13.
Freshman D Alex Bumpus started and played 93 minutes in Kentucky’s 1-0 win over Old Dominion on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Charlotte on Nov. 15.
Sophomore D Andrew Souders came off the bench and played 83 minutes in Akron’s 3-0 win over West Virginia on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over Western Michigan on Nov. 17.
Senior MF Eric Stevenson started, played 65 minutes and score two goals in Akron’s 3-0 win over West Virginia on Nov. 15. He also started, played 57 minutes and had an assist in a 4-1 win over Western Michigan on Nov. 17.

Freshman MF Michael Sauers came off the bench, played 38 minutes and scored a goal in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also came off the bench and played 44 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.
Freshman D Patrick Foss started and played 81 minutes in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. He also started and played 77 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.
Freshman D Suliaman Dainkeh started and played 100 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.
Junior MF Tyler Rudy started and played 110 minutes in Georgetown’s 0-0 draw against Providence on Nov. 15.
Sophomore MF Marcus Salandy-Defour started, played 104 minutes and had a goal and an assist in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.
Junior MF Mikias Eticha started and played 74 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 80 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

Freshman D Nicholas Rochowski started and played 51 minutes in New Mexico’s 3-0 loss against Tulsa on Nov. 15.
Sophomore D Michael Ambrose started and played 100 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.
Sophomore D Mark Ashby started and played 90 minutes in Harvard’s 2-0 loss against Penn on Nov. 16.
Freshman MF Fernando Laverde started and played 90 minutes in UCF’s 2-0 loss over Connecticut on Nov. 15.
