MLS Academy alumni weekly roundup: Sep. 18
Graduates of MLS Academies are everywhere in the college ranks nowadays, as many are aiming to continue developing with one day landing a homegrown contract.
For now, of course, the focus is on their college teams, as the season continues to move along and the chase for the College Cup inches along.
Here’s a look at how a selection of MLS Academy alumni fared in Division I action over the past week:
Chicago Fire
Junior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 90 minutes and made four saves in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Michigan on Sept. 13. He also played 90 minutes and made four saves in a 2-0 loss against Michigan State on Sept. 15.
Freshman MF Louis Bennett II started and played 82 minutes in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Michigan on Sept. 13. He also played 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss against Michigan State on Sept. 15.
Senior F Harrison Shipp started, played 82 minutes and had an assist in Notre Dame’s 3-0 win over Syracuse on Sept. 13. He also started, played 85 minutes, scored a goal and had an assist in a 3-0 win over Michigan on Sept. 17.
Sophomore MF Drew Conner started and had two assists in Wisconsin’s 2-1 win over Florida Gulf Coast(m) on Sept. 14.
Junior F Tyler Engel started and played 80 minutes in North Carolina’s 2-2 draw against Maryland on Sept. 13. He also started and played 66 minutes in a 1-0 win over Campbell on Sept. 17.
Sophomore F Joey Calistri started and played 55 minutes, scoring three goals in Northwestern’s 4-0 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay on Saturday, Sept. 13. He also played 67 minutes and added another goal in a 2-0 defeat of Butler on Sept. 15.
Chivas USA
Sophomore D Brendan Hines-Ike logged a total of 212 minutes across two games for Creighton, starting in a 2-1 overtime win over Old Dominion on Sept. 13 and starting in a 3-2 loss against William & Mary on Sept. 15.
Sophomore MF Eric Gonzalez started and played 97 minutes in UC Riverside’s 0-0 draw at San Diego on Sept. 13.
Freshman F Romario Lomeli came off the bench and played 50 minutes in UC Riverside’s 0-0 draw at San Diego on Sept. 13.
Colorado Rapids
Freshman MF Ricardo Perez played 58 minutes in Creighton’s 2-1 win over Old Dominion on Sept. 13. He also played 59 minutes in a 3-2 loss against William & Mary on Sept. 15.
Senior D Patrick Slogic started and played 90 minutes in Cornell’s 2-1 overtime win over Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 13. He also played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Loyola Marymount on Sept. 15.
Junior F James Rogers started, played 70 minutes and scored a goal in New Mexico’s 1-0 win over Santa Clara on Sept. 13. He also played 79 minutes in a 3-2 loss against Cal State Northridge(m) on Sept. 15.
Columbus Crew
Freshman D Alex Crognale started and played 110 minutes in Maryland’s 2-2 draw at North Carolina on Sept 13.
Senior D Sage Gardner played 110 minutes in Ohio State’s 0-0 draw with Bowling Green on Sept. 13.
Sophomore D Andrew Souders started and played 90 minutes in Akron’s 1-0 loss against VCU on Sept. 13. He also played 106 minutes in a 2-1 overtime win over San Diego State on Sept. 15.
D.C. United
Junior D Nat Eggleston started and played 110 minutes in Duke’s 1-1 tie against Virginia Tech On Sept. 13. He also started and played 99 minutes in a 3-2 win over Davidson on Sept. 17.
Freshman MF Ian Harkes started and played 65 minutes in Wake Forest’s 3-2 win over Virginia on Sept. 13. He also played 69 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Elon on Sept. 17.
Sophomore D Jalen Robinson started and played 90 minutes in Wake Forest’s 3-2 win over Virginia on Sept. 13. He also played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Elon on Sept. 17.
Freshman D Rafael Fagundo started and played 68 minutes in Wake Forest’s 3-2 win over Virginia on Sept. 13. He also played 45 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Elon on Sept. 17.
FC Dallas
Junior D Boyd Okwuonu played 110 minutes in North Carolina’s 2-2 draw against Maryland on Sept. 13. He also started and played 96 minutes in a 1-0 win over Campbell on Sept. 17.
Sophomore D Mikey Ambrose started and played 110 minutes in Maryland’s 2-2 draw at North Carolina.
Freshman MF Fernando Laverde started and played 99 minutes in UCF’s 0-0 draw against William & Mary on Sept. 13. He also played 79 minutes in a 2-1 loss at Old Dominion on Sept. 15.
Freshman F Bobby Edet started, played 29 minutes and scored three goals in Furman’s 8-0 win over Presbyterian on Sept. 13. He also played 49 minutes in a 1-0 win over Vermont on Sept. 15.
Freshman MF Marco Ortiz started, played 35 minutes and scored a goal in Furman’s 8-0 win over Presbyterian on Sept. 13. He also played 49 minutes in a 1-0 win over Vermont on Sept. 15.
Houston Dynamo
Senior GK Patrick Wall started and played 90 minutes in Notre Dame’s 3-0 win at Syracuse on Sept. 13. He also played 90 minutes, making eight saves in a 3-0 win over Michigan on Sept. 17.

Sophomore D Bradley Bourgeois started and played 106 minutes in Tulsa’s 1-1 tie against UMKC(m) on Sept. 13. He also played 59 minutes in a 3-2 win over Hartwick on Sept. 15.
LA Galaxy
Sophomore D Javan Torre started and played 90 minutes in UCLA’s 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 13. He also played 30 minutes in a 3-2 win over San Diego on Sept. 15.
Freshman D Nathan Smith started and played 59 minutes in UCLA’s 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 13.
Freshman MF Brian Iloski played 31 minutes in UCLA’s 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 13. He also started, played 62 minutes and scored a goal in a 3-2 win over San Diego on Sept. 15.
Montreal Impact
Freshman D Kai Morton played 43 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 4-2 win over UNC Greensboro on Sept. 14. He also played 53 minutes and scored a goal in a 4-0 win over Presbyterian on Sept. 17.

Junior F Cole DeNormandie started and played 90 minutes in Boston College’s 2-1 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 14.
Freshman MF Dominik Machado started and played 81 minutes in Providence’s 3-1 win over Harvard on Sept. 12. He also played 110 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Northeastern on Sept. 14.
Junior MF Fabio Machado started and played 66 minutes in Providence’s 3-1 win over Harvard on Sept. 12. He also played 61 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Northeastern on Sept. 14.

Junior MF Sean Davis started, played 110 minutes and had an assist in Duke’s 1-1 tie against Virginia Tech on Sept. 13. He also played 99 minutes in a 3-2 win at Davidson on Sept. 17.
Sophomore F Brandon Allen started, played 79 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 1-0 win over Duquesne on Sept. 13. He also played 84 minutes and scored a goal in a 1-0 win over James Madison on Sept. 15.
Junior MF Dan Metzger started and played 82 minutes in Maryland’s 2-2 draw at North Carolina on Sept. 13.
Freshman MF Adam Najem started and played 90 minutes in Akron’s 1-0 loss against VCU on Sept. 13. He also started, played 104 minutes and had an assist in a 2-1 win over San Diego State on Sept. 15.
Sophomore D Scott Thomsen started and played 90 minutes in Virginia’s 3-2 loss against Wake Forest on Sept. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over George Mason on Sept. 17.

Freshman GK Zack Steffen started and played 110 minutes in Maryland’s 2-2 draw at North Carolina.
Sophomore D Keegan Rosenberry started and played 90 minutes in Georgetown’s 1-0 win over Duquesne. He also played 79 minutes in a 1-0 win over James Madison.
Sophomore F Darius Madison started and played 59 minutes in Virginia’s 3-2 loss against Wake Forest on Sept. 13.He also started, played 59 minutes, and had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over George Mason on Sept. 17.
Sophomore MF Jared Martinelli started and played 83 minutes in Temple’s 1-0 loss against St. Joseph's on Sept. 14.

Junior D Phanuel Kavita started and played 90 minutes in Clemson’s 1-0 win over NC State on Sept. 14.
Freshman MF Jordan Allen started and played 90 minutes in Virginia’s 3-2 loss against Wake Forest on Sept. 13. He also started and played 76 minutes in a 3-0 win over George Mason on Sept. 17.
