Even as MLS teams have made a push to sign and develop players from their academies, there are still a handful of top prospects that head off to the college game.
With the men’s Division I season shifted to the spring, it’s a chance to get to know some of the top MLS Academy products set to contribute. Talent remains, and while not all of them are set to land Homegrown deals, several should be crucial contributors with all teams a full go this season.
Below is part one, highlighting one MLS academy graduate per franchise set to star in the spring. Teams that haven’t sent players to college aren’t included in the rundown.
