Mount Drops Home Game to Penn, 1-0
Emmitsburg, Md. (September 5, 2014) – The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team was doomed by a first-half goal, falling by a 1-0 final score to Penn on Friday night at Waldron Family Stadium. Mount goalkeepers Rachel Bourne and Vicky Cocozza made a combined seven saves in the contest.
Mount St. Mary's (0-5) fell victim to an own goal in the ninth minute when Clara Midgley of Penn (1-0) sent in a cross from the left wing that deflected off a Mount defender and into the back of the net for the game's only goal.
In the first 45 minutes, Bourne turned away four Penn shots with Cocozza notching another three saves the rest of the way. On the other end for the Quakers, Kalijah Terilli and Katherine Myhre combined for the shutout.
Offensively, Penn's Erin Mikolai fired a game-high six shots, two of which were on frame.
The Mount returns to Waldron Family Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 7, to take on Delaware State at 1 p.m.
