Complete United Soccer Coaches Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team has been recognized for its academic success, garnering a Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches (formally the NSCAA), as announced on Thursday. The award is for 2016-17, an academic year which saw Lehigh place 15 Mountain Hawks on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster. The Mountain Hawks finished with a stellar 3.40 team GPA.
In total, 531 women's squads across Division I, II, and III received the award.
Last season, current senior Amanda Stratton was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team and garnered the team's Scholar-Athlete Award at the end-of-season banquet. This fall, classmate Alyssa Riporti was named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award, an award which recognizes all-around success - on and off the field.
Last spring, Stratton garnered a 3.88 GPA in Bioengineering while Sam Miller had a 3.86, Sidonie Warnecker tallied a 3.83 and Mary Casey recorded a 3.78.
Lehigh will return home next Saturday, Oct. 7 to host American at 1 p.m.
