Mountain Lions Outlast Men’s Soccer In OT, 1-0
COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Colorado Springs extended its win streak to a season-best three games Wednesday, defeating Colorado School of Mines men's soccer, 1-0, in overtime at Mountain Lion Stadium.
Luke Chapman kept UCCS (7-7-1, 6-5 RMAC) alive for the RMAC postseason as he directed his first of the season and the deciding score to the upper, left-90 on a corner kick rebound midway through the extra session at 95:45.
Mines (9-6, 7-4 RMAC) generated 20 or more shots for the second straight match, outshooting the Mountain Lions 20-17 and 7-5 in on-goal tries.
Freshman Jackson Shelledy shared the game-high with two looks on frame, while juniors Joe Haines and Chayce Moniz and freshmen Nikolaus Grotz, Bryce Townsend and Preston Migaki each added one.
Sophomore keeper Collin Hall (4-4) suffered the loss in his first start since Sept. 26, tying his second-best saves total with four in the full time.
With their road schedule complete, the Orediggers begin a three-game homestand on Sunday to the close regular season, taking on NSCAA No. 14 Regis at 12 p.m. at CSM Soccer Stadium.
