ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Patriot League regular-season co-champion Navy women’s soccer team (15-4-0, 8-1-0) earned three major end of the year awards and seven Midshipmen were named to the All-Patriot League Teams on Monday.

Junior forward Morgan Dankanich (Glenmoore, Pa.) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, junior defender Jade Seabrook (St. Paris, Ohio) was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Hoerner(Lititz, Pa.) was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year.

Along with the major awards, Dankanich, Seabrook, Hoerner and sophomore midfielderKaylie Davidson (Oceanside, Calif.) were selected to the All-Patriot League First Team. Senior forward Ashlynn Soellner (Hollidaysburg, Pa) and junior midfielder Rachel Hunter(Raleigh, N.C.) were picked to the All-Patriot League Second Team. Junior defender Julie Schumacher (Plantation, Fla.) was chosen to the All-Patriot League Third Team.

Dankanich garnered her first major soccer accolade, being named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the year. She is the first Navy player to win the award since Meggie Curran in 2006.

Dankanich continues to improve each year, recording her highest total in goals for a season with 12 (previous best was 10 in 2012). Her 12 goals lead the Patriot League and are currently tied-for 41^st in the nation. She was named the BRINE Patriot League Player of the Week twice this season.

Seabrook is the second Navy defender to win defender of the year honors in back-to-back seasons (Nicole Aunapu 1997-98) and third Navy defender to win the title twice in a career (Aunapu & Shelly Moeller 2006, 2008).

 

Seabrook has anchored a Navy backline that has recorded 13 clean sheets in 2013. The Mids 13 shutouts are fourth-best in program history up to this point. The junior defender has logged the most minutes on the field for Navy, having played for 1580 of the 1728 possible minutes. She has started in 39 of Navy’s last 41 games.

Hoerner became the second goalkeeper in Patriot League history to be chosen in back-to-back seasons as Goalkeeper of the Year (Lafayette’s Lauren Smedley; 2010-11). Hoerner is the third Navy goalkeeper to be honored (Lizzie Barnes – 2006, ’08; Beth Reed – 2009)

The Lititz, Pa. native is having a career-best season in 2013 in goals-against average (0.53), save percentage (.852) and shutouts (9). Her 0.53 GAA and .852 save percentage are 18th and 24th in the nation, respectively.

Hoerner has a 14-4 record between the pipes and has tallied 52 saves. She recorded seven complete shuouts and one combined shutout in Patriot League play. The senior captain was named the league’s goalkeeper of the week twice this season.

Davidson makes her second-straight appearance on the Patriot League First Team, following her freshman campaign.  The junior midfielder is close to matching her freshman season offensive output, having recorded 12 points on five goals and two assists this year (17 points on seven goals and three assists her freshman year). Her five goals are second on Navy.

Soellner’s Patriot League First Team selection is her second of her career and third time being named to an All-Patriot League Team (2^nd Team in 2012). Having started all 19 games this season, Soellner recorded two games of two-goal performances. She tallied two goals in a 3-0 win over Iona and two goals in a 3-0 over Loyola earlier this season.

Hunter was named to an All-Patriot League Team for the first time in her career in her first season as a full-time starter. She has started in all 19 games this season and recorded four assists, which ranks tied-for third on Navy with Paloma Perez.

Schumacher finds herself on an All-Patriot League Team for the second consecutive season, being named to the Patriot League Third Team. She has tallied a League-best six assists this season to give her 16 in her career.

Navy is hosting the Patriot League postseason tournament this weekend and will wait to see who its opponent will be following the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
