NE Revolution Capt Shalrie Joseph Talks
May 31, 2012

Members of the Anna Maria College Men's Soccer program had the opportunity to meet and talk with New England Revolution captain Shalrie Joseph at a PROformance Soccer Academy training session at the Charles River School in Dover on Sunday night.

Joseph, who earlier in the day had re-signed with the Revolution as a designated player, is one of the most accomplished players in Major League Soccer history. The 33-year-old Grenadian international has been with the Revolution since 2003, during which time he has perennially established himself as one of the best central midfielders in MLS, earning eight MLS All-Star selections and four MLS Best XI choices.

As members of the Anna Maria College Men's Soccer program found out, he is also a big believer in giving back to the soccer-playing community and teaching the game to players of all ages through his PROformance Soccer Academy.

"He's a very down-to-earth guy. It was a fun experience to meet him and see how he interacted with the different age levels," said freshman Bryan Blomgren (Auburn, Mass.), who was recently named a co-captain for the AMCATS' 2012 campaign.

The Revolution won the 2007 US Open Cup, the 2008 North American SuperLiga, and have made it to four MLS Cup Finals during Joseph's tenure.

"Shalrie is a proven leader and winner and, in my eyes, the best player in New England Revolution history. For our coaches and players to get the opportunity to meet with him, I believe they received an experience that will resonate with them for a long time," said Zach Rocha, the Anna Maria College Men's Soccer Head Coach and a member of the PROformance Soccer Academy coaching staff.

The Anna Maria College Men's Soccer team went 4-15-1 in 2011, besting the record of the previous season. In 33 seasons of existence, the program currently sits at 99 wins. It will look for win No. 100 on Saturday, September 1, when the AMCATS host Mitchell College in their 2012 season opener.
