No. 14 Rangers Fall to UC-Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs, Colorado: The No. 14 Regis University Ranger men’s soccer team traveled to the UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions for a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference night match under the lights. The Mountain Lions (8-7-1, 7-5 RMAC) offense proved too strong for the Rangers falling to a 3-1 loss and moving to an 11-3 overall record and 8-3 in the RMAC.
With both teams in search of the go-ahead goal the score would remain at an even 0-0 heading in halftime. The Mountain Lions found an offensive rhythm scoring all three of their goals in a 15 minute time span. The scoring spree began in the 60th minute quickly followed by their second goal to make the score 2-0 in the 65th minute. The final goal for UCCS came in the 71st minute to move the score to 3-0 leaving the Rangers with a long, difficult task of trying to find a way back into the game.
Freshman midfielder Nick Frank (Shawnee, Kansas) gave Regis some life in the 87th minute first striking the post but following it up to score the lone-goal of the game for the Rangers. The Mountain Lions outshot RU 22-11 and earned nine corner kick opportunities to just two for Regis.
Sophomore goalkeeper Connor Adkisson (Federal Way, Washington) started the match and kept a clean sheet in the first half and made three saves. Junior goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) subbed in at half and tallied two saves from facing eleven shots.
The Rangers are back on the road on Sunday, October 26 as they travel to Colorado Mines for a 12 p.m. kick-off.
