No. 19/16 USF Falls to Temple in Overtime
PHILADELPHIA, SEPT. 30, 2018 – USF’s high-powered offense fell short in an overtime loss, 1-0, to Temple Sunday afternoon.
The Bull’s (6-2-0, 1-1-0) and the Owls (6-7-0, 2-2-0) were scoreless until the Owl’s freshman forward Gabriela Johnson took a hard shot in double overtime. Defender Chyanne Dennis (Sunrise, Fla.) tried to catch the ball as it was shot, but it trickled in to the left side of the goal.
USF’s defense held Temple without a single shot for 73 minute, and freshman keeper Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) looked calm and poised with two saves.
Aubrey Megrath was a key contributor for the Bulls’ offense with a 100% shot on goal percentage when she went 3-for-3.
Quotable
Head coach Denise Schilte-Brown on the loss…
“We had our chances and plenty of corners. We didn’t put away our opportunities. It was a tough field to play possession on, but credit to temple. They fought hard.”
