No. 21 Men’s Soccer Falls 1-0 To Akron
AKRON, Ohio – The No. 21 UAB men’s soccer team fell to Akron, 1-0, Saturday night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Akron.
“Tough loss,” head coach Mike Getman said. “I thought we defended well, but didn’t create enough offensively. We had our chances in the last 15 minutes but couldn’t get that final touch. We will regroup and get ready for a very important game with Kentucky on Wednesday.”
Akron’s Adam Najem scored the game’s only goal in the 65th minute when Andrew Souders connected for an assist.
UAB (6-3-1) finished with six shots in the match led by two each from Diego Navarrete and Rami Dajani. Akron totaled 12 shots and led in corners with a 5-2 advantage. Joe Kuzminsky totaled three saves in goal for the Blazers.
The Blazers return home to West Campus Field on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to host the Kentucky Wildcats in a Conference USA matchup as part of UAB’s Homecoming week.
