NO. 24 DAYTON DEALS KENTUCKY FIRST LOSS OF SEASON
DAYTON, Ohio - The No. 24 Dayton (8-1-0) dealt Kentucky (7-1-0) its first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory Saturday night at Baujan Field in front of 1145 fans.
UD senior Josie Grant scored the first goal of the match in the 31st minute on a header from junior Alysha Mallon's cornerkick. Dayton sophomore Juliana Libertin scored her fourth goal of the season - and it proved to be the game winner - on a penalty kick in the 50th minute. The Wildcats got within one on a penalty kick in the 86th minute. Both PKs were called handballs in the box.
Junior Katherine Boone had three saves in goal and improves to 6-1 overall.
The Flyers host Xavier in their Atlantic 10 conference opener this Friday, Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Baujan Field. Admission is free. It is Alumni Night and UD will honor their past soccer players and the 10-year anniversary of the 2001 Sweet 16 team.
