No. 24 Rangers Suffer Loss to Adams State
The No. 24 Regis University Ranger women's soccer team suffered a loss on Sunday afternoon to the visiting Adams State University Grizzlies (4-10-2, 3-7-2). The Rangers four-game win streak came to an end in the 1-0 loss to the Grizzlies. Regis moves to 11-4-1 overall and 9-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Adams State came out strong from the start possessing the ball and getting into an attack, the Rangers were able to hold them off until the 22nd minute of play when Jenezza Sandoval connected her head to the ball played in from a corner kick. This goal would be the lone-goal of the match.
With the Rangers in search of the equalizer, they saw a number of second half opportunities come up just short. Play between both squads heightened as time ticked off the clock in another competitive RMAC battle but RU was unable to score the tying goal. The Rangers won the shot advantage 17-10 with nine first half chances and eight in the second half; of the 17 just two were on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Kat Crump (Huntsville, Alabama) played in all 90 minutes of action making three saves and facing ten total shots.
Regis looks to bounce back from the loss on Friday, October 31 on the road at Colorado State-Pueblo. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
