The No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team topped Loras College 3-0 Sunday night at Fiskum Field in Whitewater to improve to 22-1, win their 21st game in a row and advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second year in a row and third time in school history.

Loras had the first quality opportunity in the fifth minute of play when a shot by Hanna Burgmeier was headed for the goal, but a Warhawk defender saved it before it could cross the goal line.

Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) fired the Warhawks' first shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the Duhawk keeper, Maria Siebels, made the save.

One minute later the Warhawks earned a corner kick and sophomore forward Kaci Schonert took advantage. Schonert bent the ball into the goal at the far post directly from the corner to give UW-W a 1-0 lead.

Less than five minutes later Devon Polk (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) won a ball in the attacking third and advanced it to Lesperance who buried it into the back of the net for her tenth goal of the season and a 2-0 Warhawk advantage.

UW-W senior captain Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) had two opportunities later in the half, but Siebels made the stop on both.

Freshman goalkeeper Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) made her first save of the match in the 37th minute to keep Loras off the board, and the Warhawks headed into halftime with a two goal lead.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Reid collected a ball in the right corner and dropped a beautiful pass at the feet of Schonert who knocked it past the keeper for a 3-0 Warhawk lead.

Loras, fighting to extend their season, tested the Warhawk defense and Klimisch as the match went on, but UW-W was up to the test and held the Duhawks scoreless for their 14th shutout of the season.

The Warhawks and Duhawks met earlier in the season with the Warhawks claiming a 3-2 victory. Loras concludes their season with a record of 12-4-3.
