No. 8 Regis Suffers First Loss
Denver, Colorado: The No. 8 Regis University Rangers Men’s Soccer suffered their first loss of the season to cross-town rival the No. 14 Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners (5-0). One goal was enough for the Roadrunners to stun the Rangers on the road. RU moves to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
In a game where both teams had multiple opportunities to score, Metro State scored the game-winning and only goal of the match in the 65th minute off a cross from the left end line where Roadrunner Danny Arrubla found the back of the net.
Metro State edged out the shot advantage 17-15 but Regis saw more corner kick chances at 7-5. Ranger goalkeepers Connor Adkisson (Federal Way, Washington) and Christian Nicolosi (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) split halves and were kept busy between the posts. Adkisson earned the start and recorded five saves and Nicolosi finished the second half tallying three saves.
The RU men are back on the Regis Match Pitch on Wednesday, September 24 at 4 p.m. as they host Colorado Mines (3-2).
