Northeastern Women's Soccer vs. Delaware
BOSTON – The Northeastern women's soccer team had its four-game winning streak snapped when it lost 2-0 at Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe Delaware Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies (4-7-3, 4-1-0 CAA) were stifled by the Blue Hens' defense as NU managed just two shots on goal. Delaware goalkeeper Jessica Levy made a stop on Morgan Hilby in the fourth minute and saved an attempt by Hanna Terry in the 87th minute.
The Blue Hens (8-6-1, 2-2-1 CAA) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Emily Market netted a goal in the sixth minute.
Delaware took the one-goal advantage into halftime as NU goalkeeper Paige Burnett kept the Huskies within striking distance by recording four saves in the first period.
On the offensive end in the opening period, the Huskies managed three shots and three corner kicks.
Delaware increased its lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute when Andrea Arnold gathered the ball off a deflection and found the back of the net.
Despite firing just two shots on goal, the Huskies managed to win the battle in corner kicks, 7-4.
Northeastern looks to get back on the winning track when it finishes its three-game road stretch when they travel to Towson on Thursday, Oct. 17, for a 3 p.m. kick off.
