Northeastern Women's Soccer vs. UNCW
BOSTON – Hanna Terry and Morgan Hilby continued to provide an offensive spark for the Northeastern women's soccer team, and Haley Sinclair scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half as the Huskies topped Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe UNCW, 2-1, at Parsons Field Sunday afternoon.
Terry assisted on both goals for the Huskies (2-6-3, 2-0-0 CAA), giving her five points in the last two games. She scored a goal and tallied an assist in NU's 3-0 victory at College of Charleston on Friday, Sept. 27, and has eight points on the season.
UNCW (5-7-0, 0-2 CAA) got on the board early in the game when Katrina Guillou scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
The Huskies struck back in the 38th minute when Terry found Hilby at the top of the 18-yard box, who then dribbled past Seahawk goalkeeper Liisa Rahkola for an easy touch into the back of the net. Hilby's game-tying goal was her third score in the last four games.
The teams entered halftime tied 1-1, but NU held a 7-4 advantage in shots and a 2-1 edge in shots on goal.
Looking for a go-ahead goal, Terry drilled a hard shot over the crossbar, but soon after the Huskies claimed a 2-1 lead after Terry lined up for a corner kick on the right side in the 69th minute. Sinclair headed the service into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
The Huskies tried to pad the lead when Hilby danced around a defender and fired the ball from the right side, but Rahkola was there to make the stop.
The NU defense allowed only two shots on goal for the entire game.

After play resumed, Shayna Blackwood launched a potential insurance marker wide of the goal in the final minute, but Northeaster held on for its second-straight victory, improving its conference record to 2-0.
