NPSL Team of the Week: May 16
In partnership with the NPSL, TopDrawerSoccer is naming an NPSL Team of the Week each week during the 2018 NPSL season. The week is defined as matches played Monday through Sunday of the previous week. The following is the inaugural NPSL Team of the Week, named May 16.
NPSL Team of the Week
F Cody Golbad, Academica SC: Golbad scored all four goals in the team's 4-4 draw with Sonoma County Sol FC.
F Branden McGarrity, Minneapolis City SC: In the NPSL National Game of the Week, McGarrity scored a pair of goals in the team's 3-2 win over Med City.
F Sebastian Obregon, Miami United FC: Obregon scored a hat trick in Miami United's 9-0 win over Storm FC.
F Kalle Sone, Fort Worth Vaqueros: Sone scored three goals in the first half in the Vaqueros' 6-1 win over Tyler FC.
M Jordi Cobo, Katy 1, 895 FC: Cobo scored the first goal in club history during a 3-1 loss to Shreveport.
M Nyakeh Kamara, Junior Lone Star FC: Kamara had a goal and two assists in the team's 7-1 win over Torch FC.
M Dana Kowachek, Duluth FC: Kowachek scored the game-tying goal in the closing moments after a scramble in front of goal during a 3-3 drawwith Minnesota TwinStars.
DM Matt Koziol, Kingston Stockade FC: Playing a defensive midfielder role, Koziol was key in a shutout win and went on the attack. He scored two goals in an 11-minute span of the team's 3-0 victory over the Rhode Island Reds FC.
D Rodrigo Goncalves, Georgia Revolution FC: Goncalves played 90 minutes of "lights out" defense in the team's 1-1 draw with Asheville. He played a major role in holding the opposition to only one shot on goal.
D Erik Mueller, Orange County FC: Mueller's strong defensive performance helped Orange County FC to a 3-1 win over Temecula FC.
GK Javier Valdez Raya, Napa Valley 1839 FC: Raya had a superb performance, collecting five saves, none of them bigger than a saved penalty kick in the 93rd minute that preserved the team's 1-0 win over Sacramento.
