NSCAA announces Hermann Watch Lists
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 6, 2014) – 2013 Women’s Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy winner Morgan Brian (Virginia/St. Simons Island, S.C.) is one of 63 NCAA Division I players tagged as the leading players to watch this season that could vie for the 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The 2014 Watch Lists were announced earlier today on NSCAATV on the “2014 NSCAA College Soccer Review Show,” which also revealed the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason College Rankings for NCAA Division I men’s and women’s teams.
The lists are compiled by the NSCAA Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I All-America Committees, based on their analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.

UCLA leads the charge with a total of five players between the two lists, followed by Virginia with four total players. Georgetown and Florida each have three players named to the lists.
Two men’s semifinalists and one finalist from 2013 have been marked as contenders for this season’s award. UCLA senior Leo Stolz (Munich, Germany) was one of the final three from last year, while Milwaukee senior Laurie Bell (Poynton, England) and Cal State Northridge senior Sagi Lev-Ari (Haifa, Israel) were two of 15 semifinalists last season.
On the women’s side in addition to last year’s recipient Brian, 2013 finalist Abby Dahlkemper (UCLA/Menlo Park, Calif.) returns to this year’s Watch List. South Carolina senior goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo (Welland, Ontario) and Virginia junior forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) were also tagged as players to watch after reaching the MAC Hermann semifinal round last season.
Near the end of the collegiate regular season, NCAA Division I coaches that are NSCAA members will vote on their top choices and the lists will be narrowed down to the top 15 players. College soccer fans will also have the opportunity to participate in the selection process, by voting for their favorite semifinalist in November at the MAC Hermann Trophy website, managed by LockerDome.
From that pool of 30, six finalists (three men, three women) will be chosen for the award. The winners will be announced in January.
