BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Northeastern men's soccer team (11-1-2, 6-0-1) set the program record for longest unbeaten steak on Saturday night with a 2-1 victory against UNCW (6-9-1, 3-5-0). The Huskies received goals from Donovan Fayd'Herbe de Maudave and Don Anding, while Oliver Blum made two saves in goal.

Northeastern set the tone from the opening minute of the match, taking a 1-0 lead just 61 seconds into the contest on a goal from Fayd'Herbe de Maudave. Dante Marini began the play with a pass from up Anding at the left flank. Anding then sprinted down the sideline and into the box before threading a pass across to Fayd'Herbe de Maudave, who was sprinting towards the goal to bury his fourth goal of the season.
The Huskies continued to challenge Seahawk goalkeeper Sam Williams and the UNCW defense with seven shots during the opening 45 minutes, and NU nearly took a two-goal edge in the 12th minute when Anding rocketed a shot off the crossbar.
At the other end, Blum and the NU defense kept the Seahawks at bay, and handled two Seahawk corner opportunities during the first half.
The Huskies pressured UNCW throughout the second half as tempers began to boil over. A combined three yellows cards were issued in the second half as the Seahawks holding a 7-6 edge in shots in the final 45 minutes. Northeastern extended its lead to 2-0 in the 78th minute when Ambry Moss sent a long ball down field and into the territory of Anding. Anding then settled the ball, chipped it over the keeper and put it in the back of the net for his 10th goal of the season.
The Seahawks would cut the deficit in half with 9:36 left in regulation as Colin Bonner scored his fifth goal of the season on a shot inside the left post, but Blum and the Huskies were able to hold on in the final minutes for the victory.
Northeastern will be back in action on Wednesday as the Huskies travel to Towson for a 3 p.m. CAA bout.
