Numbers From the 2024 NWSL Draft
Here are some interesting numbers from the 2024 NWSL draft.
1-2 – North Carolina produced top two picks in 2024, same as in 2014, remaining the only program to have done so.
2 – Amanda West of Pittsburgh and Mya Jones of Memphis, representing Canada, were the two international players drafted.
3 – Allyson Sentnor, Savannah King, and Ally Lemos were three teenagers drafted, tying the total from prior drafts.
4 – Stanford remains the program to have produced the most number-one picks, with four total. North Carolina is now second with three.
5 – Five schools had a player drafted for the first time. Iowa, Memphis, Pittsburgh, St. Mary’s, and Utah State.
6 – North Carolina had six players selected, tying UCLA's record from 2015. Both occasions saw the team have three drafted in the first round.
9 – The Big Ten and Big 12 tied with nine players each.
12 – This was the 12th NWSL draft.
19 – With 19 players, the ACC sets the NWSL record for most players in a single draft.
30 – Thirty schools had a player selected.
50 – Fifty of fifty-six picks came from the Power-5 conferences. The schools outside were St. John's, Santa Clara, Utah State, Memphis, and St. Mary’s.
56 – The 56 selections are the most ever for the NWSL draft as the league continues to expand.
