ODU Defeats UNCW, 3-1
NO. 12/14 SOCCER MONARCHS DEFEAT UNCW, 3-1
WILMINGTON, NC— ODU senior co-captain Chris Harmon (Downingtown, PA.) scored two goals along with an assist and junior Tim Hopkinson (Nottingham, England) added another to lead the nationally ranked Monarchs of Old Dominion (8-1-2/2-1-2) to a 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association victory over the Seahawks of UNCW.

After a UNCW goal by Nathaniel Goodwin, Hopkinson gave ODU the equalizer seven
minutes with his ninth of the season on an assist from Harmon and a 1-1 halftime score.
In the second half Harmon scored his fifth goal of the season with a shot in the box into the upper right corner of the net with an assist from senior Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.) 17 minutes in the second half. Seven minutes later after a UNCW foul in the box, Harmon scored his sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick for a 3-1 ODU lead.
ODU had nine shots on goal to UNCW’s 4 as the Monarch’s senior goalkeeper Victor Francoz (Fleurieu Sur Saone, France) had three saves on the evening. Yannick Smith, and Chris Harmon both had three
Shots on goal each, while Hopkinson and Ivan Militar had one.
Hopkinson now has 22 total points, while Harmon is second with 16, followed by LeBlanc with 14. ODU has four players with four assists (Hopkinson, Harmon, LeBlanc and Smith).
The Monarchs return home Wednesday when they host the Tribe of William and Mary at 7 p.m.
