NORFOLK, VA -- The ODU Soccer Monarchs will be spending their upcoming spring break in Barcelona, Spain beginning this Saturday, March 9-16. Alan Dawson's Monarchs will play two friendly matches against local teams as well as attend Champions League Soccer match between A.C. Milan and FC Barcelona Tuesday night.
Head coach Alan Dawson exclaimed, "We are very excited about this trip. There are a lot of things we are going to be doing while we are in Barcelona and are very excited about. We get to see a Champions League game between A.C. Milan and Barcelona which will be the highlight of the week. We also have some games against two local teams in stadiums over there that we are looking forward to. We will train with the Barcelona staff for a couple of sessions and tour their facilities. It's going to be a very busy week, but a very exciting one. This will be a terrific experience for our team, not only in terms of chemistry and comradery, but in terms of playing together for a couple of games and getting a little bit of a feel for each other. That's important for where we are at right now in the program."
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. The city is located in the northeast part of Spain, facing the Mediterranean Sea not far from the French border. The Monarchs will attend the Champions League game between Barcelona and A.C. Milan on March 12th. They will play friendly games on March 13 and 14.
