ODU Women's Soccer Records a 4-0 Shutout
COLUMBUS, Ohio – On a bright, sunny Sunday afternoon, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team remained red hot as the Panthers routed Lake Erie 4-0 on their annual senior day for their 11th shutout of the season.
With the win, the Panthers are now 10-4-3 overall and 6-3-3 in conference action while the Storm drop to 3-12-1 overall and 2-8-1 in the GLIAC.
It was all ODU from the opening whistle as senior Shara Perry (Hilliard, Ohio) got the offense rolling as she kicked her first penalty kick of the season, sending it to the right side of the goal for her first goal of the season. The Panthers outshot the Storm 14-0 in the first half.
In the 41st minute, freshman Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) chipped in her eight goal of the season off a freshman Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, Ohio) pass.
Following the break, ODU would tack on two more goals in the 53rd and 87th minute. Sophomore Jordan Mazzi (Galena, Ohio) scored her fifth goal of the season and put the Panthers up 3-0 after a loose ball around the net.
Fowler dished out her first assist of the game after she passed the ball through the defense to the 10 yard line where an awaiting junior Megan Augusta (Lyndurst, Ohio) where she scored to the right side of the net.
Sophomore keeper Laura Clark (Lapeer, Ohio) recorded her 11th shutout of the season and improved her record to 10-4-3.
The Panthers defense held the Storm to just four shots while the offense had 21 shots, including 11 on goal.
ODU returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 for a 7 pm conference game against Ashland on Panther Field.
