Orediggers Stumble 1-0 At No. 12 Metro State
DENVER – A lone second-half score by NSCAA No. 12 Metro State was the difference in Sunday's clash of area rivals as Colorado School of Mines men's soccer fell 1-0 at The Regency Athletic Complex in Denver.
Nolan Barth found Jeff Gillis for the decisive score at 58:06 as Metro State (7-2, 4-2 RMAC) ended a five-game slide in the series that dated back to 2011.
Mines held the upper hand in shots and shots on goal, sending five of 16 chances to frame.
Junior Joe Haines posted a game-high six shots and two shots on target, while seniors Tannor Randle and Matthew Alemann and sophomore Allan Foster III each sent one to net.
Freshman Josh Clark (2-1) suffered his first loss between the pipes, making two saves.
The men line up against Adams State at 1 p.m. on Friday at ASU Soccer Field in Alamosa.
