Otto Helps Rangers to 2-0 Decision over UTPB
SANTA FE, N.M.: From the beginning of game two in the 2013 season, Regis women's soccer were playing hard, maintaining possession and inching their way towards goals against Texas-Permian Basin and another victory on the year.
After freshman Sid Otto put one in during the first half, Regis stayed strong against their opponents looking to give Otto another opportunity to score again in the second and help the Rangers to a 2-0 victory on the day.
Freshman Kelly Crowe sent the ball in to Otto in the 39th minute of play to put the Rangers up 1-0 before the half ended.
Looking to put UTPB under in the 82nd minute and not afford them another shot at a tie, Regis senior Rachel McMahon received the ball on the right side of the field and crossed over to Otto who ripped it toward the opposition's keeper.
UTPBs keeper could not handle Otto's ball however, as she tipped it in to give RU the 2-0 win, bringing the Rangers up to 2-0 to start the season on the road.
Senior goalkeeper Ellen Augsburger put up three saves for Regis in between the posts. She stayed strong through 90:00 minutes and garnered her first shutout of the new season.
Regis outshot their opponents 25-7 on the day, putting 10 on goal throughout regulation play.
Regis will return home next weekend on Friday, September 13 to kick off Parent's Weekend by taking on Emporia State at 2:30 p.m.
