Panthers Down Chatham in Women's Soccer
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women’s soccer team picked up its second win in as many days with a 3-0 victory over Chatham Sunday evening.
The Panthers opened the scoring early when Frankie Embrescia stole the ball away from a defender, dribbled past the goalkeeper and scored to give Pitt-Bradford a 1-0 lead.
In the 31st minute, Abby Sortore played a delicate chip shot from the corner of the box into Danielle Zeamer who struck it on a clean volley and found the back of the next from 12 yards out to make it 2-0. Moments later, Emma Roosa scored on a pass from Zeamer to complete the scoring.
The Panthers outshot Chatham 40-6 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Alisa Cornell earned the win in net. She played the entire first half and recorded three saves. Kayla Bott played the second half and logged one save.
“It was a great team effort to take care of business the day after a very hard fought game,” said head coach Mike Idland. “Danielle’s [Zeamer] goal was a thing of a magic; great execution by both Abby [Sortore] and Danielle.”
Pitt-Bradford improves to 2-0 on the year and will travel to Alfred on Wednesday.
