Portland State women defeat Utah Valley

OREM, Utah - 10 years in the making - Senior Dolly Enneking scored her fifth and sixth goal of the season, one from Michelle Hlasnik in the 16th minute and another on a penalty kick in the 57th, to take over Joanna Bowns 99 career scoring record in Portland State's a 2-0 win over Utah Valley. Enneking also ties Bowns career goals record at 17, breaks Sophia Mundy's (2003-04) shots on goal record with 63 and ties for fourth all-time with seven shots in a match, the second time she accomplished the feat this season.
Utah Valley came out of the gate fast to try and end their five-game winless streak, firing a shot to test senior Cris Lewis in the first minute of play. Lewis came up with the save, her first of five in the shutout win.
Portland State would then begin its barrage of shots as Hlasnik fired a shot wide, followed by junior Frankie Ross' shot on goal. Enneking would follow Ross? shot with her first goal of the day in the 16th minute. Hlasnik scored her first career point on the assist in her second start of her career.
As a team, the Viks took 10 shots to the Wolverines six in the first half. In the match, Portland State was outfouled 12-11. The Vikings were last outfouled by North Dakota State on Sept. 20.
In the second half, Portland State continued its hot streak as they fired 12 shots, six on goal. At 57:58 Enneking was fouled in the box to setup the Vikings first penalty kick attempt of the season. Enneking nailed it to put PSU up, 2-0.
Enneking accumulated seven shots, three on goal, and two goals in the match. Hlasnik, sophomore Kala Renard and freshman Jenna Horton tallied two shots on goal in the match as well.
Lewis extends her winning mark to 18 and now has 14 shutouts in her career. Enneking is two shots shy of breaking the all-time shots record. Jessica Shadle ?05 owns the mark at 132.
Overall, the Vikings improve to 5-5-1 on the season, heading into matchup against Gonzaga. It will be the 13th meeting all-time between the two teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at PCC ? Rock Creek. Admission to the match is free..
