Quamme wins 100th as Warhawks Cruise
DECORAH, Iowa - Head Coach Ryan Quamme earned his 100th victory Wednesday evening as the No. 12 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team defeated Luther College 4-0 on the road. The Warhawks, winners of three in a row, improve to 7-1-2, and have not allowed a goal in over two and a half games.
It did not take long for the Warhawks to get on the scoreboard. A foul on the Norse in the third minute resulted in a penalty kick. Quamme elected junior forward Karina Rosales (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) to take the kick, and she capitalized for a 1-0 lead.
Anna Boyd (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) recorded her fifth goal of the season in the 19th minute scoring on a pass from Alyssa Lennon (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh West) to give UW-W a 2-0 advantage.
Boyd paid it forward in the 25th minute by assisting on the Warhawks' next goal, Kaci Schonert (Racine, Wis./Horlick)'s first of the season.
UW-W recorded their final tally in the 83rd minute when Anna Perona (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) found Giana Rogala (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) for her second goal of the year.
Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) started and played 73 minutes in goal for the Warhawks and made two saves to earn the win. Nina Yonan (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) played the final 17 minutes and recorded one save.
The Warhawks, winners of two straight over Luther, outshot the Norse 16-6 in the match.
Quamme, in his sixth year as head coach, boasts a winning percentage of .828, fifth highest among active NCAA Division III women's soccer coaches.
