Ranger Women’s Soccer Down Skyhawks 3-1 in First Round of RMAC Tournament
DENVER, Colo.: Regis University women's soccer won their first post season match, after putting down Fort Lewis College 3-1 in the first round of the RMAC Tournament.
Freshman goalkeeper Brianna Randall put up six saves on the day, allowing only one goal in the 72nd minute throughout her time in between the posts.
Freshman forward Sade Akindele scored first for the Rangers six minutes after kickoff. A corner kick was sent toward the goal by senior Erin Kettman and was received by the Rangers outside the six yard box. Akindele gained control and sent it to the left of the net for the goal.
Akindele scored her second goal of the day six minutes into the second half. She earned possession 35 yards out, took a few big touches to draw the Skyhawk keeper out and ripped it through to the top left of the goal to bring the Rangers up 2-0.
The last Ranger goal of the day occurred just five minutes later by the foot of freshman Sid Otto. Junior Meghan Stuart crossed in to the forward to took the shot from 10 yards in front of the goal to score.
In a last effort, Fort Lewis put one through in the 72nd minute, but could not muster another goal throughout the match.
The Rangers will host the RMAC Tournament Championship against Colorado School of Mines on Sunday, November 4 at 12:00 PM.
