Rangers Weather the Cyclones
WASHINGTON, N.J. (August 31, 2013)-- The Drew Women's soccer team won it's second game in as many days with a 2-0 victory over Centenary (0-2) in the Cyclone Kickoff Tournament this afternoon.
Senior Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) scored the first goal of the game for the Rangers, bringing her season tally to three. Sophomore Danielle Cowan (Staten Island, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) netted her first goal of the season for the Rangers.
Loiodice scored the opening goal of the match sneaking the ball just under the crossbar off an assist from sophomore Alexa Kogan (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) in the 28th minute. Ten minutes later Cowan added the game's second goal sneaking the ball inside the right post from 15 yards out. The two first half goals were enough for the Rangers to pull out the victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) posted her second victory as the Rangers starter saved the lone shot the Cyclones put on net. Nash recorded her first career shutout as a Ranger.
Drew will return to action on Saturday September 7 at 1:00pm in Ranger Stadium as they take on the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raiders in the first game of 12th annual Drew Women's Soccer Fall Festival.
