FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU men’s soccer all-time leading scorer Cristian Raudales (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee HS) became the first Eagle in program history to join the professional ranks late last week when he signed a contract to play in Germany for BSV Rehden (www.bsv-rehden.de).

Raudales will join BSV Rehden, who plays in the Regionalliga Nord (Northern Regional League). Play will begin on Aug. 5 when BSV Rehden takes on Oldenburg. BSV Rehden is in the fourth-highest division of Germany.

“This is an impressive accomplishment for Cristian as Germany has one of the top professional leagues in the world,” said FGCU head coach Bob Butehorn, who signed Raudales as part of the program’s second-ever recruiting class. “We're excited for him and proud to call him an FGCU alum.”

Raudales finished as FGCU’s all-time leader in points (43) and goals (19) over his four seasons in the Green and Blue in which he helped guide the Eagles to a 39-26-7 record, two Atlantic Sun Conference regular season titles (2010, 2011) and the 2011 A-Sun Tournament title which led to the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.

The Bradenton, Fla. product turned in his best season during his senior campaign in 2011, leading the team in scoring with 15 points, highlighted by a club-best seven goals. Even more impressive, Raudales tallied three goals when FGCU was playing a man down, including a two-goal performance in a 2-1 comeback win over Mercer. A four-year starter at midfield who made 70 starts, Raudales was named to the A-Sun All-Conference first team and NSCAA All-South Region third team in 2011.
