Red Foxes Look To Lock Up Top Five Seed
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men’s soccer team (7-8-1, 5-3-1 MAAC) will welcome Monmouth to Tenney Stadium at 7 p.m. Oct. 31. The contest will be the final regular season test for the Red Foxes in 2015 and it will be streamed live on the Red Fox Network. Prior to the match Marist will honor its five seniors: Derek Reilly, Brian Coyt, Connor Flatley, Steven Arraiano and Connor Preece.
MAAC Standings
Marist is currently tied with Rider (10-5-1, 5-3-1 MAAC) for third place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference while Monmouth has clinched the regular season title with an undefeated mark of 7-0-2. The Red Foxes will clinch a top five seed in the MAAC Championships and earn an opening round bye with a win Saturday. All 11 teams in the conference will compete in the postseason tournament, which will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, from Nov. 5-9.
Last Time Out
Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Rajovic picked up his fourth shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory at Niagara on Oct. 28. The Red Foxes had a total of three shots on goal, while freshman Simon Lund Jorgensen converted on a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season in the 35th minute.
Player To Watch
Following Wednesday’s shutout, Rajovic has 11 in his brief career and is tied with Mike Valenti for most all-time in program history. Rajovic has played every minute between the pipes this season and made 69 stops.
Scouting Monmouth
The Hawks (11-3-3, 7-0-2 MAAC) lead the MAAC with 33 goals scored this season. Junior goalkeeper Eric Klenofsky leads the conference with seven shutouts and a 0.84 goals against average.
Looking Ahead
The Red Foxes will head south to prepare for the MAAC Championships, which will take place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, from Nov. 5-9. The tournament winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
