Red Foxes to Host Monmouth in Pink Out Game
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – In the third of four straight home matches, the Marist women’s soccer team will host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent Monmouth at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. A live stream will be available via the Red Fox Network.
Pink Out
Saturday’s contest will be the fifth annual Pink Out Game hosted by the Marist women’s soccer team. Marist will welcome the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation; a Hudson River Valley-based organization that provides funding and support services for people affected by breast cancer in the local community. The Marist Athletics Department will recognize breast cancer survivors with a special on-field ceremony prior to the game.
Last Time Out
Marist suffered a 3-1 loss to Canisius in its eighth MAAC contest of the season Oct. 22. Senior Marjana Maksuti (Delmar, N.Y.) got the equalizer for the Red Foxes in the 31st minute, heading the ball into the net off a corner kick from sophomore Danielle Glazer (Queens, N.Y.). The Griffins went ahead toward the end of the first half and never looked back, though Marist outshot Canisius 14-10 and owned a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Player to Watch
Senior Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) has fired 12 shots, five on goal, in her last four games. She scored her second goal of the season in Marist’s 2-1 win over Saint Peter’s on Oct. 18.
Scouting Monmouth
The Hawks are tied with Fairfield for the top spot in the MAAC with a 7-1 record to go along with a 13-3-1 mark overall. Their six-game winning streak dates back to Oct. 1. Freshman Rachelle Ross leads Monmouth with seven goals and is one of five players to rack up double-digit points this season. Graduate goalkeeper Nicole D’Agostino has started all but one game and has a .098 goals against average.
Looking Ahead
The Red Foxes will host Dartmouth for Senior Day at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 before concluding their 2014 campaign with a game against MAAC rival Niagara at 4 p.m. Oct. 29.
