Reinging Champs Tabbed Second In Preseason
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey Crusaders have been voted the preseason favorites to win the 2015 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship, the league announced today. Belmont Abbey received four of four first-place votes and 74 points from the conference's coaches.
Converse and Pfeiffer tied for second, with each receiving two first-place votes and 65 total points.
Converse posted a program best 15-3-1 record last season while winning the regular season championship posting a 9-1-1 record. The Valkyries fell to preseason favorite Belmont Abbey in the Conference Carolinas FinalFour, 1-0.
"I am extremely proud of the girl's preseason ranking after an incredible and historic season for the program," said Coach Rick Parlow. "We want to use the momentum from last season and carry it in to this year."
The Valkyries return 10 starters and many key players from last season's championship squad. Converse looks to continue the championship run this season with the veteran leadership of the squad's eight seniors: Darby Boyd, Cimone Francis, Georgia Jones, Natalie Johnson, Olivia Grose, Erika Hanson, Mikhaila Lisicki and Bethany Spivey.
