Rice Owls Announce 2016 Schedule
HOUSTON - Season tickets for Rice soccer, featuring home games at the Owls’ newest on-campus venue, are now available for the team's 2016 schedule announced on Thursday (June 23).
Season tickets starting as low as $50 are available for the Owls' eight home matches, a challenging schedule featuring longtime rival North Texas to highlight one of five Conference USA league games. In addition to season tickets for reserved or general admission seating at the new soccer stadium, the popular Flex Plans (where fans can use different quantities of tickets for their choice of games throughout the season) are again available. Ticket information and various benefit options are listed online at the above link.
The Owls' soccer season first gets underway with a rugged pair of road games at national powers SMU and Texas A&M on August 19 & 21, respectively. The Blue & Gray play the 2016 home-opener against crosstown foe Houston Baptist on Aug. 26 at 7 pm. Rice also welcomes Samford (Sept. 2) and Sam Houston State (Sept. 4) for non-conference home matches. C-USA opponents to visit Rice this fall also includes Charlotte, Old Dominion, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky. The eight home matches are divided equally with four on Friday nights and four on Sunday afternoons.
Under the direction of head coach Nicky Adams the Rice soccer program has won both a regular season C-USA championship and league tournament title, tied the school record for wins and played in the NCAA Tournament. In 2016 the Owls return 20 letterwinners from a year ago and welcome in a talented new recruiting class. The team's full 2016 schedule is available at the above link.
