Rice Owls Announce 2017 Schedule
HOUSTON – The Rice Owls’ 2017 soccer schedule, featuring a total of eight regular season home matches on campus at Holloway Field, was announced on Friday (June 2).
After a pair of exhibition matches in early August, the Owls' soccer season officially gets underway with a rugged road game at national power Texas on August 18. Rice plays the 2017 home-opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Aug. 20 at 6 pm. The Blue & Gray also welcome longtime state foe Baylor (Aug. 25) and crosstown rival Houston (Aug. 25) for non-conference home matches. C-USA opponents to visit Rice this fall includes Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, UTSA, UTEP and Middle Tennessee. The eight home matches are split by four on Friday nights, three on Sunday afternoons, and one on a Thursday night.
Under the direction of head coach Nicky Adams the Rice soccer program has won two conference championships, been to the NCAA Tournament and tied the school record for wins in a single season. In 2017 the Owls return 18 letterwinners from a year ago and welcome in a talented new recruiting class.
