Rice Owls Battle Arkansas To 0-0 Deadlock

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Rice and Arkansas soccer teams finished in a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods Friday night in Fayetteville, Ark.
Rice is now 3-1-2 on the season and stretched its unbeaten streak to five straight matches. The stretch includes three-consecutive games against Southeast Conference teams where the Owls are 2-0-1. Arkansas is now 3-2-2 overall.
The Razorbacks led the match in shots 22-15, but Rice had the shooting edge in overtime 5-4 and an eye-opening 11-6 margin in corner kicks. Credit the stating goalkeepers for both teams for a pair of steady performances. Owl senior Amy Czyz finished the night with seven saves while Arkansas' Cameron Carter had six.
The contest is the Owls' lone game of the weekend. Rice is next in action on Sept. 20 (Saturday) with a non-conference clash against the Air Force Academy. Start time against the Falcons is set for 7 pm at Rice's Holloway Field.
