Rice Owls Fall at No. 18 Memphis

MEMPHIS -- The No. 18 ranked Memphis soccer team recorded a 3-1 win over the visiting Rice Owls Friday night at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Tennessee.
Rice true freshman Ashley Burgess scored her first career goal in the closing seconds in the 3-1 final. The Owls' sophomore goalkeeper Maya Hoyer tallied a career-high nine saves. A complete box score is available at the above link.
The Owls are now 2-2-1 on the season. Memphis improved to 6-0-0. The Rice soccer team is next in action on Sunday against longtime foe Tulsa. Start time at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Tennessee is set for 2 pm.
