Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Maren Rojas, the former head coach at Bowdoin, has been named assistant women's soccer coach at Boston College, according to an announcement made today by Eagles head coach Alison Foley.

Rojas comes to Boston College after five years at Bowdoin College in Maine, where she led the team to five NESCAC Tournament appearances and the 2007 NCAA Tournament.

“We are very fortunate to have a coach with Maren’s experience and expertise join our staff. Her familiarity of coaching in the ACC and with our youth national teams will give her an easy transition of recruiting and training the highest level soccer player,’’ said BC head coach Alison Foley. “This is an exciting reunion for Maren and me as we both started our coaching careers together at James Madison University over 17 years ago.  Through the years we have been on opposite side lines when she was coaching at Syracuse and UVA, so it’s great to have her back on my side line. This hire has just made BC soccer that much better.’’

A native of Springfield, Virginia, Rojas was also an assistant coach at the University of Virginia from 2003 to 2007. While at UVA, she assisted in practice sessions, evaluated future student-athletes managed the budge and were the co-director of camp operations. Rojas was a key to the Cavaliers success on the field as they made four NCAA Tournament appearances, and reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in 2005 and the Sweet 16 in 2006.

Rojas also had assistant coaching stints at both Syracuse and James Madison. She is also involved in the Region I Olympic Developmental Program as the Director of Goalkeeping. Rojas has also been involved in U.S. Youth National Team coaching in 2001, 2002 and 2011.  She holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" License and NSCAA Advanced National License.

A standout goalkeeper for the College of William & Mary, Rojas played from 1990 to 1994. She led her team to three NCAA Tournament appearances and the 1992 NCAA quarterfinal. She earned the team MVP three straight seasons, was a two-time NSCAA Regional All-American selection and was named to the ISAA Senior Team.

Rojas graduated from William & Mary in 1994 with a degree in art. She earned her master’s degree in art education from Syracuse in 2002.
